9 oz plain weave basalt fiber cloth is a lightweight, bidirectional reinforcement fabric made from continuous basalt filaments derived from volcanic rock. The “plain weave” construction features a simple over-under pattern that provides balanced strength and stability in both warp and weft directions, along with good handling and drape. With an areal weight of approximately 9 ounces per square yard (about 305 g/m²), it offers a moderate thickness suitable for composite layups requiring a combination of strength, durability, and ease of impregnation with resins such as epoxy, polyester, or vinyl ester. Basalt fiber is naturally resistant to heat, chemicals, and UV exposure, making this cloth well-suited for applications in marine, automotive, aerospace, and construction composites where thermal stability and corrosion resistance are important.
When purchasing multiple yards of the same fabric you will receive one continuous length of that material. It will be rolled, covered in plastic, and shipped in a cardboard tube to keep the fabric in its first quality condition.
